Q: How long will it take to complete my job?

A: It is difficult to give you a specific answer for this question. No residential paint job is the same. The timeline will likely vary from one home to another.

We will do our best to complete residential paint projects within a week. However, unforeseen situations may occur that affects how long it takes to paint a home. Here are some things that may affect the length of the project:

  • The size of the home. Larger homes will likely take longer than smaller homes.
  • The condition of the surfaces to be painted.
  • The total number of walls that are to be painted.
  • Are the walls textured or not? Textured surfaces generally require more time to paint than smooth, flat surfaces.
  • The weather especially when painting the exterior of the home. Damp weather can also affect interior painting.
  • The experience and skill of the painters who painting your home.

Q: Will you use latex or oil-based paint?

A: As a general rule, unless requested to use a different type of paint, we will use water-based latex paints for interior and exterior residential paint jobs. Today’s latex paints are a great choice for regular home painting applications.

Latex paint is easier to apply and will dry much quicker than most oil-based paints. Many latex paints contain a unique formulation to resist fading, mildew, and mold. Some latex paints are also more environmentally friendly than standard oil-based paints.

The biggest benefit of oil-based paint is that is more durable and stain-resistant than most latex paints. A major drawback of this type of paint is the pollution caused by the solvents in them. The solvents, when they evaporate, become volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as the paint dries. These fumes are considered to be toxic. Most oil-based paints are deemed to be health and environmental hazards. These toxins are why oil-based paints are not as popular as they have been in the past. In fact, some states have banned their use. As this trend continues, you will eventually only be able to find latex paints for residential painting jobs.

Q: Will my personal property be protected from paint?

A: When we complete interior painting, we suggest you remove any delicate and breakable items from the room. Things that are too large to move out, we will move them to the center of the room, and then protect them with clean drop cloths or plastic sheeting. We will also add painter’s tape to areas that should not be painted.

When doing exterior painting, we will cover shrubs, grass, flower beds, and items near the exterior surfaces to protect them from paint.

Q: What type of warranty do you offer?

A: All structural building work we do comes with a one-year warranty. We can also offer an extended warranty if it is something you want. We offer a one-year warranty for work completed on floor surfaces.
